picking on the Bones ...

Hmm, I'm pretty sure this is just a cry in the dark with almost nobody seeing / hearing it and even fewer giving a damn, but I don't have anybody to discuss this with, so I'm just gonna post...

I loved the last (E4S25) episode of Bones. And lots of people did, obviously, but some still have some issues with inconsistency of characters etc, which I don't agree with.

So these are my views on them.

1. "Brennan decided on the whim during word association game that she wants a baby and she wants it with Booth." Well, I don't think it was a whim. I think she was pondering the question of her own child and the association made her realize that she really wants it and that she wants Booth to be the father...

2. "She is incapable of emotions, she would be a terrible mother." She is capable of emotions, she just thinks that love, as a chemical reaction in a brain, is not sufficient reason to create a bond with a person, and is absolutely not necessary for having rich and fulfilling sex life. In other words "Don't require love when you actually only want the sex." Brennan is not very emphatic, but she is affectionate and caring.

3. "Booth regrets having too little time with his son and even preached to a high-school boy about the responsibility for producing children so he wouldn't just donate and not care." Yes, that's true. But nowhere in the episode he is saying that he would just donate the semen and that would be the end of it. It seems to me that in almost every conversation where Brennan's future baby was discussed he actually hinted that he would like to be a dad, not just the father.

I haven't seen the preview for the last episode, so I am really curious about the season finale... One week to go... Whoa! Horse... ;o)

So the last one left home yesterday... I am sad, but I am also happy for her. Don't know which is the stronger. I'll miss her, but at the same time I know that she needed to spread her wings...

What for God's sake will feel if I ever have my own children and they will grow up and start a life of their own?

It is now ten years.

Ten years since we learned the ancient art of stalking, of navigation without a map or a compass, of surviving in harsh weather and treacherous ice.
Ten years since we discovered a late-born, white seal pup, lying in the remains of its melted den. Ten years since we found the simple pleasure of simple life, of food and heat hard-earned, of cooking fish every day and baking bread in a wood stove.
Ten years since becoming one with the vastness around, and being comforted by it.
And only too soon it will be ten years since we left it all and returned home.
I remember, still in March, ten years ago, I had dreamt that I am home again, not knowing how I got there, but crying and longing with all my heart to get back to that strange place of wilderness, because it was just too soon to leave it.

April sun is now shining on the icy armor of Baikal, but the pasque flowers are already in full bloom. And I am not there.

And so I cry again. This is how dreams can come true. All of them…

What I really really envy the people in Potterverse is their ability (after training of course) to become animagi. I am not really sure which animal form I would take, but I would like to try it anyway.

I haven't found any really nice quiz to find out which animal I would be, but took one for the patronuses instead. Thanks to natasnape for the link.

As I found out about the mere existence of LiveJournal through the world of HP fandom and fanfiction, I feel I should pay respects.

I found this fic quite a long time ago (long time being a length of time after which I barely remember anything - what with my memory might actually be quite short). I don't know how I found it, I couldn't even remember its title or author. But I remembered it suddenly during a discussion about smell description in literature.

I bow my head before Learning to Uncurl by Amorette. So - read and enjoy, just as I did.

A year passed by...

It is now almost a year... Year of both frustration and happiness.

It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday, May 6th. I sat behind the wheel of my parent's car, for second time after around two years, to start something I might even call a new life. A life of driving. A life of early wake-ups. A life when I can't just pack my things and go, because it is not only I who needs to be accepted at the place where I come.

I set out from our home, to a birthplace of Frei. I visited her some three weeks ago and now the day had come. The day, when I'll take her away, away from her mum, from her siblings, from the only place she knew. Will she like her new home? Will she protest?

She does and she did not. She traveled all the long way as if she always knew that there is someplace else she belonged to. She lay peacefully on the hind seat, sleeping, sometimes waking up to look around, and then falling asleep again. And when we arrived home at the end, she ate her dinner, sniffed around and decided this is it. This is where she belongs.

So now, almost a year later, I think this deserves a celebration. A big beef bone of course, but maybe a livejournal also. To keep memories which slip away so fast otherwise.
